About Me
Movement has always been an integral part of my life. Whether dancing, running, practicing yoga and Pilates, or hiking in the mountains, moving my body brings me joy, clears my mind and renews my spirit. I am a kinder and gentler person when I am moving regularly and healthier! I cannot imagine my life without it.
Leaving my corporate suit life and embarking on a second career doing what I love so much, has been amazing. I truly love sharing my enthusiasm and what I have learned about the wonders of our bodies and the joys and benefits of movement.
I have learned, researched and practiced many health and fitness modalities over my lifetime and now utilize what I have learned in my work with others. I continue to "feed" my anatomy nerd, holistic health nut, and latest-medical research-reader selves. No longer just "a hobby," these pursuits allow me to be a better resource and teacher for my student/clients.
My hope as a movement teacher and wellness coach is to support others in moving more - with more ease and enjoyment - and to feel healthier in body, mind and spirit.
In a class or private session my focus is on safe, functional, core-centered movement with an emphasis on form and alignment. A consistent Pilates practice with these principles will correct physical imbalances, create uniformity in both flexibility and strength, and increase stamina. An additional value of the training I provide is the development of your mind-body connection. Utilizing breath work, building the awareness of your body in space (proprioception) and mindfulness while moving will help to regulate your nervous system, provide stress relief and build your capacity to handle life's ups and downs.
I maintain national certifications in comprehensive classical Pilates and several Yoga modalities. I have decades of training and experience in dance and body conditioning, am a certified life/executive coach and Reiki healer. I have rehabbed my way through several of my own injuries, as well as helped others with their rehabilitation, so understand the emotional/mental challenges that come with that process.
My husband and I recently realized our goal of living and working in the beautiful mountains of Virginia. We enjoy having friends and family visit, the wonders of the changing seasons, amazing views and abundant wildlife. When I'm not teaching, I create healing jewelry and meditation beads and am learning how to garden on a mountain!
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about working with me and how I may help you with your specific health and fitness goals.
I look forward to being a part of your movement and wellness journey.
